ELA.5.R.1.4: Explain how figurative language and other poetic elements work together in a poem
This lesson plan comprises three sessions designed to introduce fifth-grade students to figurative language and poetic elements. Through interactive activities and detailed analyses of poems, students will learn to identify and articulate how these elements work in harmony to convey themes and emotions in poetry.
This lesson will introduce grade 5 students to the various types of figurative language often used in poetry, including similes, metaphors, and personification. Through example poems and interactive activities, students will learn to identify and understand these figures of speech and their effect on making language more vivid and expressive.
