United States Constitution and Bill of Rights

This three-part lesson plan aims to provide grade 5 students with a comprehensive understanding of the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights. Starting with the historical background and ideology behind the Constitution, moving into the exploration of the Bill of Rights, and concluding with an analysis of the structural mechanisms of checks and balances as well as federalism, students will develop a robust understanding of the foundational elements of American government. Through interactive activities, students will engage with and apply these principles to modern contexts, meeting the educational standard 5.SS.4.4.
