Costume design
In this 60-minute class, students will explore the multifaceted world of costume design as it relates to theatrical productions. By collaborating in small groups, students engage in discussions and role assignments to understand the creative and technical aspects of designing costumes. They will analyze and create costume design concepts for a hypothetical play, presenting their ideas through sketches and mood boards. The activity will encourage them to apply artistic and critical thinking skills by considering character, era, mood, and budget, as well as responding to peer feedback, which aligns with ELA standards by engaging in structured, evidence-based discussions.
