Metaverse in Schools

As virtual reality becomes more and more popular, it is important to start preparing the next generation of students for a world where metaverses are commonplace. Many schools are starting to do just that, by teaching the metaverse in their classrooms. By giving students early exposure to this new frontier in education, we can help them become leaders in the metaverse era.

What is the Metaverse?

In the metaverse, people can create their own realities. This is a whole new frontier in education. Though metaverses have been around for decades, they are only now starting to become popular and accessible. With the advent of modern VR technology, it is easier than ever before to go into a metaverse—and soon metaverses will be as common in schools as textbooks. There are many benefits to this – not only does it prepare students for life in an increasingly virtual world, but metaverses also offer opportunities for learning that simply cannot happen anywhere else: like exploring outer space without leaving Earth or having an audience with Albert Einstein without time travel. Metaverses provide experiences that would otherwise be impossible – which makes them invaluable in learning environments.

How it started

The metaverse has been around for a long time – in fact, the term was first coined in 1992 by Neal Stephenson in his novel Snow Crash. However, it wasn't until recently that metaverses started to become popular and accessible. With the arrival of modern VR technology, people are finally able to experience metaverses in a realistic way. This has led to a surge in their popularity, as more and more people discover the amazing potential they offer for learning and exploration. With and without VR.

Who is who?

The metaverse is still in its infancy, and there are many companies working to define the future of this new frontier. Some of the biggest players in the metaverse space include:

  • Linden Lab: Linden Lab is the company behind Second Life, one of the earliest and most popular metaverses. They have a lot of experience in the space, and continue to be a major player in the metaverse industry.

  • Meta (Oculus) Quest: The Meta Quest is a VR headset that is well-suited for metaverse experiences. Its low cost of entry and full feature set makes it a great device for exploring metaverses. Meta's Metaverse app is called Horizon Worlds.

  • Roblox: Roblox offers a wide variety of experiences for users of all ages. With its vast library of user-created content, Roblox is great for exploring the metaverse.

  • Microsoft: Microsoft is another major player in the tech industry, their often more work oriented metaverse platform is called Mesh.

As you can see, there are many big players invested in the future of metaverses.
