Ragdoll

Ragdoll is a Navigation mode for Characters that makes them instantly go limp and collapse. It can be used to simulate a character getting knocked unconscious, floating in the air, falling over or more.

How to activate Ragdoll in the Builder

The simplest way to see ragdoll in the Builder is to enable it on a character in their Navigation settings. To do so:

  1. Add any character to a scene. You can even use your custom characters!

  2. Select the character and look at their character settings in the Object tab.

  3. Select the Navigation dropdown menu and choose Ragdoll Mode.

  4. Play the Viewer or Scene to see the character ragdoll.

How to turn on Ragdoll while Playing the Viewer

Often you do not want characters collapsing at the beginning of a scene, but rather when they are interacted with by you or another object. For example, you can click on a character that is chasing you to make them collapse using the set up below.

Physics and Ragdoll

Physics forces and objects can impact a character in Ragdoll mode! To allow physics forces and objects to affect Ragdoll characters, enable physics on the character.

You will see an important warning message when you do. Essentially, you need to apply much greater physics forces on the character in ragdoll mode.

Ragdoll on Multiplayer Characters

Ragdoll can even be used on Players multiplayer games! It has a different name in the Event system though.

Add the event action "Knocked Down" to make a multiplayer character fall over for several seconds. Then combine it with the event "On: Knocked Down End" to apply another action (like respawning) after several seconds.
