Mac: Tips and Tricks

Increase Builder Performance

Some Macbooks have quite a large screen resolution but just a Intel i5 CPU, which can result in low framerates with complex scenes.
Improve the Builder's frame rate on Macs by lowering its resolution.

  1. Right click on the Builder App icon and select "Info".

  2. In the new window, select the option to start the app in low-resolution mode (non-retina). This will significantly improve the Builder's performance!

With your Builder starting in low-res mode, change the Builder to use smaller fonts so it appears normal sized.

  1. Select "Tools" in the top menu bar and choose "Preferences" in the drop-down menu.

  2. Open the UI tab.

  3. Change the "Label Font Size" setting to Small Fonts.

  4. Now the Builder should appear normally, but run much faster!

Adjust Icons/UI when too small

With certain retina screens, the Builder can appear with way too small icons

  1. Select "Tools" in the top menu bar and choose "Preferences" in the drop-down menu.

  2. Open the UI tab.

  3. Change the "Label Font Size" setting to Large Fonts.

  4. Now the Builder UI should be more accessible
